[2261] Governor Days

Hepaic:

I had NO idea how anything works or is set up but damn, the asteroid looks stinking good. I stop to admire some patches of grass being put on what used to be rocky ground.

Boring ole' asteroid.

I spot a redhead with a banana sitting by a cafe window.

*trips over self over horse dung left on the road*

Damnit..

I look around.

No one saw..
I decide and keep walking.

Dumb horses!

I'll never get used to that.

I see a carriage going passed and servant boys running away almost getting hit.

"Can we get someone on street patrol!" I scream at underlings.

Crystal:

Takes paparazzi photos of the redhead and the banana.

That's what the pervy elites want to see. Oh yeah. That's the good stuff.

I hear a man bellowing out orders on street patrol.

I think the last human who tried to do that didn't last two minutes...

Tully:

I make a short patrol look around at how messed up this world was. The gang want to stop and raid for supplies.

What a shocker its Beo's old piriate buddy Hesp.

Guess his last venture didn't pan out.

I wonder what he stopped to look at and someone stopped to take a look at.

I peak in and see what the women was doing with the fruit bowl.

I think it was some human mating ritual to attract one of the burly bearded men seated across from her.

She turns alerted to the flash of the camera and I jump sensitive to light and jump into the DUDE taking a pic.

(Amanda): "Tony! I dont feel safe here, please walk me home."
She screams looking around as if someone was on to her.

(George): "What are you people all crowded around for! Haven't you seen a lady eat a banana before!"

Crystal:

I stumble and nearly get knocked over.

"Hey!"

I hobble back and kick my 'attacker', assuming some dude wanted me.

"Try anything and I'll-!"

Oh.. It's 'him'. He doesn't want a piece of me. I know that for a FACT.

"Watch where you're going! You could have made us fall into the street and we'd both be road kill!"

I snapped.

"Or worse! You could have broken my camera!"

I check it over carefully and test it taking a shot of the guy.

"Frontpage news.. Raging gay starts attacking the females. I'm sure that will leave more men for you." I tease.

Tully:

My eye focus and I see its HER. Oh Dane. What luck I have...

"I..uh..I.." She was talking alot and all of it made it harder to think of an excuse.

"IM SORRY!"
I say loudly, in a panic.

The humans exiting the cafe stare and move on faster. Hep makes sure they get across safe to flirt with the redhead.

"I'm not.. I didnt..look I dont know what you saw back at that planet but Klaus and me, we ant a thing. You even made little Nurse Ettie get jealous."

Though Klaus is a little old for her eh?

I jump a little startled by the horse as someone gets hit, its a street patrol Hep just ordered out there.

(Old Earl): "Baah not again. DRIVER ARE YOU BLIND AND MUTE OR DEAF?"

He thumps his cane over the driver. Hep comes over alarmed and the Old Earl promises to donate extra funds and slave labor from his captive islanders to pay for that.

(Hepaci): "Accidents happen, I think we can strike a bargain good sir! CROW help him unload!" He calls what looks like a slave urchin.

The Old Earl had a pretty young thing too. I hear Crow greet the young man as, Mutton.

Such creative names. But I guess they are expendable.

(Old Earl): "Your boy looks more fit then mine, we should race them."

Crow and Mutton unload the suitcases quickly at their cackling.

Crystal:

"Uh-huh..."

As if I even care. Whatever he wants to tell himself while he's in the closet is his business. I'm not his therapist.

Besides, there are much more interesting things going on.

I take photos of Hespaci and the Old Earl.

Oooo blood money dealings... Fascinating...

Probably not what most people think is surprising or care about... It's likely common and not 'real news', but still.. It's worth something I guess.

Tully:

I look around and then catch her eye with the crusty human and Hep yapping on and on.

The friendliness turns sour.. I think it was over the redhead. The Earl makes a nasty comment and Hep had enough of him.

"Are you...shipping them too?" I ask hoping she is.

I'll feel less weird.

Crystal:

I sigh.

"Only in business... Don't worry.. There's probably nothing to get jealous over... Probably..."

I ruffle his head teasingly.

"Though now that you mention it... Maybe you're just too young for him... Shame."

I wink continuing to tease to poor hopeless romantic.

Tully:
I pout, I wasnt sure if that was the answer I wanted to here.

"I.."
I redden and decide not to but my foot in my mouth further.

"It was..NICE seeing you again..I.. need to go.. I'm supposed to be scouting this place out." I act like its a very BIG deal and inch my way into the cafe.
A women with big teeth and a bigger hat greets me and I nod not making eye contact as I take a seat in the back.

I look at the menu in French.

... this is going to be a problem.

Ethan:

I enter the cafe and the doorbell jingles.

(Waitress): "Bonjour."

"Salut."

The waitress goes over to the man in the back first as I head for the counter to wait. I had just stopped by for a quick coffee to take on the road to work.

(Waitress): "Qu'est-ce que tu prends?" She asks Tully.

While I wait for my turn, I look at the drink menu curious.

Vin rouge, biér, café, apéritif...

My gaze turns to the food menu and feel a pang of hunger. I then glance at my watch wondering if maybe I did have time to grab a booth after all. I don't know...

Tully:

Oh no, no one here speaks the King's English.

Some one babbles something to me. I mean if I had my Peacekeeper gear it comes with a universal translator AI to deal with all those alien refuges It wouldn't be any problem.
Now those days are over, we're barely making it by.

"Coffe. Do you have COFF-EE" I repeat to her and get some looks.

Ethan:

I look over.

The waitress rolls her eyes at him and shares a look with the other waitress at the barista counter.

She looks back to her receipt notebook. "Un café."

She looks back at the guy "Américain? Léger? Noisette? Allongé? Décafféiné? Serré? Au lait?"

That guy is doomed...

The other waitress wanders over and goes behind the counter to take my order.

(Waitress): "Et tu?"

I should probably get something strong... I already saw a dead ran over guy just outside... Might be a lonnggg day.

I clear my throat.

"Un café serré. S’il vous plaît."

Tully:

Did she understand coffee?? Or is she still trying to communicate in another tounge.

I point to the man who just ordered and seemed to know how.

"What HES having. HIM."

I stop pointing. This isnt helping the 'rumors'.

Ethan:

I get out my wallet and lower my head as I look in. "Combien ça coûte?"

I hear the waitress answer, as I hear the English man again and glance back.

The woman he's with glances between us and nods slowly then goes to brew the order.

I get my drink.

"Merci."

I pay for it and see the waitress bring the expresso to the man.

People are whispering, glancing at him and I think some are laughing.

I feel a bit bad for him. Poor guy must be having a hard time here...

I check my watch and wander over to his back table.

"Je paye pour toi." I take a seat then remember. "Er.. I mean... I'll.. Pay for you."

I make sure to get the waitress's attention and pay for his drink.

I see those gossipers were now looking at me too now but I don't pay them much mind. More not helping rumors.

Tully:

I try not to make eye contact embarrassed. Buying someone a drink back on the Neoplanet was something the soldiers did to impress a girl.

I must look homeless for a guy to do that.

How did I let my personal grooming go? Oh I don't know running for my life everywhere.
I lost track of the clock in the town square, I had to go back soon and report in. I don't even know what to report.
This place...what was it?
It wasnt anything like Boron's usual shitholes. But then again his children have strange kicks. I dont see any of the squidmen Blythe uses.

I finely squint at the man, trying to see if a Squid was under his friendly face.

"Hey...thanks..alot I appreciate it. I just crashed here and am..new...totaly..."

I dont like being indebted to anyone. I wonder if I can give him something.

"Are all the places here like this or is it because its a 'French restrount'."

Ethan:

"Yeah.. I can see that..."

I bet he'd be forced to wash dishes if he couldn't figure out how much to pay and even then wouldn't understand the wash dishes to pay of his debt part...

I sip my coffee and breathe in the scent and close my eyes feeling the burn of the liquid and enjoying the experience because life is an experience and every moment counts until you're dead.

I open my eyes and swallow. I lean to the side and glance to the side.

"Oh.. Well.."

I try to think about how to explain this.

"No.. Um.. They're building uh... Different cities.. London, France, what have you. I don't know how well it's going to work out but they're really trying... Uh. It could just be a French restaurant in Havenland.. Or... I think we're sort of on the border between Havenland and France... But.. I don't know for sure... Since everything is... still in development... obviously..."

I had waved my hands as I spook, while I tried to explain what I vaguely know myself from the whole police district briefings.

"So, just uh... Stick to the other cities or Kingdoms or whatever and not France and.. You'll probably be fine.."

I shrug and glance the other way.

"If you can understand all those Londoner accents..." I tease.

Tully:

I listen so confused as the man explains about what they we're doing here.
It felt like society was crashing down on itself and everything was being destroyed and we had to run for our lives again and again and somehow these people think its gonna all work out....

Are they aware of the galactic conflict and terror?

At first I am half convinced, squid or no squid this must be some Boron shit.

He likes to group planet's into themes right? Planet Hell, Planet Love? It makes sense.

But he was so proud of wiping out the humans why make fake human cities?.. was it going to be some hunting ground or robot humans to kill and torment and restart at the end of the day?

*confused look*
"Uh...good luck with that."

I smile awkwardly trying to appear more friendly.

"I'm. Tully. What's your name?"

Ethan:

A... Tully?.. Fk.

I hear gasps around at the name... They might not speak English, but you don't need to when it comes to names...

I feel annoyed I paid for this guy's drink now. Ugh. I don't want to support those guys. This is why being nice gets you nowhere.

I look at my watch and get up.

"Look at the time. Got to go."

I ignore his question not wanting to talk to the slaver anymore and plus I really did need to go and ditch.

Tully:

I blink confused, I was being REALLY careful not to say anything to show loyalty to either 'side' I thought I was doing so well.

Now I was more confused who was running this place.

"Bye. Thanks again."

So much for repaying the man if I don't know what his name is...

I sip the coffee trying to enjoy the 'break' even though I don't feel I learned much of anything to report back to Beo.

The waitress comes back with something 'on the house' I assume, who knows what she said.
I look at the cake slice and smile.

"Thank you."

They are really nice here

Ethan:

"Uh, huh. Don't mention it." Really... don't... The bell jingles as I leave with my coffee.

I head to work. The Morgue was set up next to the Police Department. It made it easier to conduct with the police and the exchange of evidence information.

The Morgue wasn't exactly a step up in my career, but it was something I could put my skills to use.

Back before this, when it was just the CCC, health and biology were always a top concern. Genetic stability, Advancement of Technology, Pod Maintenance, and studies in the extension of life were big things in the day. So chances were you'd be either taught health sciences, from genetics, biology to alien diseases, and so on, or you were an engineer or scientist. Or... At least that's how I always saw it then... Given these days, I don't know... Maybe that's just what I was exposed to in my studies... But now everyone is an Earl or something or other... Probably just the Pod people... Probably...

Either way, all my previous CCC training in this new way of living on the asteroid kind of seemed like an obvious transition... I studied death for humans then and here I am now studying death for everybody under the fake sun...

I think it's a lot easier than what most doctors do these days, whether trying to save or extend some Elites life or do facelifts... Most of the time, the deaths I see now are traffic-related, but sometimes there's actually some fun mystery to be had.

I cross the street in front of the Police station sipping my coffee, on the way to the Morge.

Callicarpa:

My skills as a technician have somehow been wasted to be a damn secretary for that damn harry pig Hep.
The power grid on this is going to be a force to be wreaked with but the need for tracking and monitoring every freak of the week here was truly needed so no one sneaks in and destroys a city before its even finished.

Hep and his asteroid alien ferals were over there helping push something, some manual labor a droid could probably do better.

Someone was going to get eaten, far to many alien freaks.
Why did anyone think this spot was a good idea?

Just because the two major 'god level sides' killed one another off doesn't mean its safe for humanity.

I was headed to pick up a security report for the computer lab and the works to get more cameras installed and even the facial eye recognizing AI up.

BUT theres a strange woman eating a hotdog outside the station. She's peering around and taking a big bite in some strange manner.

"Hey you."

She bats her eyes at me with a smile as if the world should bow to her whims.

(Angelic): "Hello. I need to speak to someone..I feel..unsafe.." She looks around and I was going to repeat she needs to MOVE. But someone opens the door for her with a love struck look. She comes into the station with tears in her eyes.

Wussy

I grab a doughnut off some mope's plate as he fawns at her and sneak around them to get what I came for.

Crazy Art Man:

"It's a priceless piece of history, I'm telling you!"

(Cop): "Uh-huh."

I put my hands on the desk as I lean over, eyeing the man at the desk, who I felt wasn't treating my case with the appropriate amount of concern that it so desperately needed!

"This IS an emergency! This Museum is not only going to showcase the greatest pieces of art and relics ever conceived in humanities history but also be a monument to the greatness of humankind itself, to show how far our great dynasty has gone on for, for generations!"

I lift my hands up and shake my head in utter confusion and disgust.

"And some thief stole the crown jewel! Literally! The great crown of the great Queens of England!"

(Cop): "Sounds like that's a part of New England jurisdiction."

"I don't think they even BUILT yet! And the museum belongs to not one city zone but all!"

(Cop): "Okay, alright..." He pulls out a form and starts to fill it in. "Where'd you see it last?"

"In its display case, of course!"

(Cop): "Right... Any idea who would take it?..."

I frown. "No..." Then get annoyed. "But I'm sure ANYONE would want it!"

(Cop): The cop frowns with a look that reads this case is doomed. "Look, we'll get back to you later. If we find your missing hat, okay?"

I sputter at the complete moron!

"The INDIGNATION! It's more than just 'a hat'!"

He holds out a donut trying to appease me.

(Cop): "Have a nice day, sir." He says still in his board voice.

I snatch the delicacy from his uncaring hand with malice!

I turn around to leave this waste of time and see the door open to a very fine lady.

When cops all around turn to see who is entering, they're all spellbound in her presence.
